چکیده

در منطقه تخت سلیمان، در فرودیواره گسل چهارطاق، تراورتن ها گسترش قابل توجهی دارند. در شکل گیری تراورتن های این منطقه سه عامل موثر است، عامل اول ماگماتیسم و گرادیان زمین گرمایی بالا در منطقه است، و عامل دوم رسوبات کربناته در فاصله بین منشا گرما در عمق، و چشمه های تراورتن ساز در سطح زمین است، که محلول گرمابی می تواند مواد لازم جهت تشکیل تراورتن را از آنها تامین نماید، و عامل سوم، وجود گسل و شکستگی در پوسته، با مکانیسم کششی برای رسیدن محلول های حاوی کربنات کلسیم به سطح زمین است. تشکیل نشدن تراورتن در روی پی سنگ دگرگونی، حتی در فرودیواره گسل چهارطاق، نشان از نقش ضروری عامل دوم در تشکیل تراورتن هاست. کربنات‏های واحد جانگوتاران و کربنات هایی که در سازند قم وجود دارند منشاء کربنات کلسیم تراورتن‏های این منطقه هستند که البته با توجه به شواهد موجود سازند قم نقش بیشتری دارد. کشش با راستای شمال شمال باختری در پایانه جنوب خاوری گسل چهارطاق که حاصل از مولفه امتدادلغز راستگرد این گسل است نقش مهمی در تشکیل تراورتن ها دارد اما تنها عامل نیست زیرا شواهدی از گسل های عادی با راستای شمال باختری در کل منطقه وجود دارد و کشش ناحیه ای با راستای شمال خاوری را نشان می دهند، که عامل این کشش با توجه به مطالعات اخیر احتمالا در ارتباط با برگشتن به عقب (slab rollback) و شکسته شدن پوسته فرورونده(slab breakoff) نئوتتیس و یا لایه لایه شدن لیتوسفر(lithosphere delamination) و یا حاصل دگرشکلی ستبرپوست در پی سنگ منطقه است.
